Quad
A group of four conductors twisted together, used for certain control and communication systems.
Conductor
The metal core of a cable (usually copper or aluminium) that carries electricity or signals.
Sheath
The outer layer of a cable that protects it from water, sunlight, and other environmental factors.
Triad
A group of three conductors twisted together inside a cable, often used for instrumentation.
SWA
A protective layer of steel wires wrapped around a cable to protect it from damage in tough environments.
Voltage rating
The maximum amount of electrical pressure (voltage) a cable can safely handle.
Zero scrap value
A cable designed with materials that thieves can’t resell for profit, helping prevent cable theft.
Screening
(Shielding) A metallic layer inside a cable that reduces electrical noise and interference, ensuring clean signals.
APL
A thin aluminium and plastic layer that adds extra strength and moisture protection to a cable.
